sorted the bottom plate bearings problem.
the aptly named ‘simply bearings‘ company provided me with a very nice Needle Roller Cage and Roller Assembly 80x105x4mm (part no: AXK80105). Cost: £14.9557 + £2.62 (vat) + £1.50 shipping. Total: £19.34
Works like a dream. Just need to find a way of holding it secure. You can buy a housing unit from simply bearings but it looks pricey, I think instead a couple of small round feet can run inside the needle cage holder.
I found these Plastic Feet (4 Pack, £1.99) at Maplins (code: L19AA). They should do.
The question I have now is whether a stepper motor will be able to ‘drive’ this…
