ideas for version 1.1

so, this mount has been working for a few months now. it had a good run in spain in the summer and was fantastic in the dark welsh skies this christmas.

the one feature of the mount that is not so good, though, is the azimuth scale. the compass always a bit of a bodge (of course north on a compass isn’t actually true north).

so, it’s time to get a better azimuth scale. i’m going, therefore, to put a bottom plate underneath the current mount, find some suitable bearings that will help it ‘glide’ around, and mark a 360 degree scale on it.

i’m also beginning to think about ‘a great leap forward’ and making the whole thing motorised / computer controlled. my wife has started to refer to this as the ‘never-ending project’ (sung to the tune of the never-ending story).
